Porter Robinson’s latest album Nurture obsesses me. It’s unique take on electronic music leaves me impressed and dazzled. He breathes natural life into a genre known for being robotic by cleverly combining organic and electronic elements. Robinson most clearly displays this in his treatment of vocals. When vocals do show up in the album, Porter Robinson treats them in such a way that they seem simultaneously robotic and natural. The vocals don’t feel like they were just ran through a vocoder but rather like they were emitted from the mouth of an android.
Personally, I haven’t been able to stop listening to this album. Even the instrumental pieces mesmerize me. In those songs, Porter Robinson arranges the melodies in such a way that they seem to foreshadow each other. Because of this, Nurture quickly jumped to the top of my list of best albums of 2021.
I did a full review of the album on Youtube, so check out my full video review of this album below.
